Today is the beginning of the spring signing period, so there may be some hoopla and excitement, so players wanting to make a splash. Make a splash because there will be some specials on ESPNU. Unfortunately not many people have access to ESPNU, and as of a few minutes ago, we didn't notice any of the major ESPN channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN-News, ESPN-Classic) having any recruiting or signing-day programming in their schedule.
But if you don't have ESPNU, you may want to monitor or record ESPN-News, if they are any big news, they will likely feature them there. Hopefully.
We just checked the espn360.com schedule but unfortunately there is no plan to show any of the ESPNU signing day coverage. They do have repeats of the Rise National Invitational and the McDonalds All-star Game and Jamfest that you can watch if you missed them or want to (re)scout some of the players. Especially the "new free agents".

Tax Day means Signing Day
It's always a dramatic April 15, because it's not only the deadline for filing taxes, but it's also a new signing period for college hoops that usually lasts for a whole month.
And with the wild coaching carousel of the last couple of weeks, things have been re-arranged in the world of recruiting, not just for the 2010+ and beyond classes, but also for the 2009-2010 recruits, commits and non-commits alike. Not to mention potential transfers and jucos.
We believe ESPNU will have something, but ESPNU is not exactly easy to get on your cable box because of a childish dispute between ESPN and some cable companies like Comcast. The more silly things like that, the closer traditional cable TV gets to its end as more and more people will shift towards the internet with true pay-as-you-go plans. But that's a different story for a different blog :)
As far as know there's nothing planned for CSTV (CBS College Sports), which seems to have significantly cut its budget on studio-based productions. Their signature "One College Sports Show" has been gone for quite a while now.
But if we do notice any specials, we will certainly post a new blog update!

Rise Invitational Final today on ESPN at 3pm eastern
Don't forget to tune in or record the final of the Rise Invitational today on ESPN and ESPN-HD. The game will tip-off at 3pm eastern (12pm pacific). The girls game is underway on ESPN2 as we speak. In case that game goes to six overtimes, then obviously the men's games will start later than 3pm eastern.
This game is a great way to scout some of the upcoming great players in the world of college hoops, because, let's face it, the only two teams left with any interest in the 2008-2009 season are Michigan State and North Carolina.

Oak Hill Academy vs Montrose Christian (March 6)
ESPN2 is planning to show another high profile high-school game on March 6, at 7pm eastern (4pm pacific). The game will feature the "high school team" of the college-star-factory Oak Hill Academy visiting Montrose Christian of Bethesda (Maryland, not Israel).
The stars colliding in these game are two Villanova forwards, Isaiah Armwood and Mouphtaou Yarou, going up against Stephen Smith's crew, which is headlined by Keith Gallon who is planning to go to Oklahoma.
This is also a good way to scout future stars, so you can be the first to know in your sports bar or blog when people hear their names next year!

Classic High School games on ESPN Classic
There are two classic high-school basketball games scheduled to be shown on ESPN Classic in the next few days, so set up your VCRs and VCRs!
First up, tomorrow, Sunday February 22nd, at 11am eastern, you can watch a one-and-a-half hour edit of the classic 1954 game of Milan vs Muncie, a true Hoosiers story. That's right, the game is from 1954. Don't expect the footage to shine on your 50" HDTV, but you are watching living history!
Next up, a much more modern game, from 2002, LeBron James goes up against the Oak Hill Academy. This game will be shown on ESPN Classic at 1:30pm eastern time on March 6.
ESPN Classic has a live feed like ESPN and ESPN2, so there is no east/west-coast time like cable channels that offer "canned" shows.

T-Mobile Showcase 2009 highlights on CSTV (CBS College Sports)
If you missed the 2009 version of the T-Mobile Showcase (Invitational) that aired on CBS College Sports (CSTV) during the holiday season, fear not!
CBS-CS has created a one-hour highlights special and it is showing it multiple times on CSTV. Check CSTV.com or your local tv listings for the exact dates and times. Or if you have a localized edition of CSTV, eg "the Mtn".
There were four men teams and four women teams, including Lawrence North (without Greg Oden!), South Atlanta, Duncanville and Garfield featuring some of the top recruits of 2009 and beyond. This please note was a high-school tournament, not an "all-star" type of game, so you don't get all the recruits in one place.
But a number of people think the high-school games can be more informative since you can see the recruits in a regular team environment where wins and losses actually matter and count.

High school Basketball State Championships on regional FSN and Fox College Sports
Check your local listings basketball fans! High school basketball State Championships are airing or repeating in reruns on your regional FSN stations and on the three national Fox College Sports channels. Be sure to check your local listings as air times are all over the place, and some of them end up on FSN+ or the airtimes in the listings may be inaccurate.
Typically both men and women games are featured, and among others, games from the following states usually find their way on FCS or regional FSNs: California, Texas, Florida, Washington, Oregon, West Virginia, and such. Be sure to check local listings as we can't keep track of the whole nation.

American Christian vs St Anthony's on ESPN, Thursday February 21, 2008
ESPN and ESPN-HD have another high profile high-school basketball game to showcase on Thursday February 21, 2008, at 6pm pacific (9pm eastern). Tip-off may be delayed a bit, as there is a college basketball game right before the high school game.
The teams you ask? American Christian vs Saint Anthony of New Jersey! So who is the star of the game? Tyreke Evans, an uncommitted power-wing! Who is the underrated unassuming star of the game? Mike Rosario of Saint Anthony's! Other D1 players participating in this game, Tayshawn Taylor (Marquette Golden Warrior Eagles), Jeremiah Kelly (DePaul), Jio Fontan (Fordham), and uncommitted wing Dominic Cheek.

Helen Cox vs Norcross on ESPN2 today!
We have a high-school basketball game on ESPN2 and ESPN2-HD today, Thursday, January 10, 2008. Helen Cox of Louisiana squares off with Norcross of Georgia.
RISE Magazine has a nice preview of the game. Greg Monroe, a Georgetown commit, and voted #4 best player in the class of 2008 in our informal poll (see right sidebar of this blog) squares off with Wake Forest-bound Al Farouq Aminu.

Four High school games on Saturday on Fox College Sports
Fox College Sports along with some regional FSNs will be showing a four-pack of high school games on Saturday January 5, 2008. The games will begin airing at 11am eastern, with Long Beach Poly squaring off with St Paul Central.
Then at 1pm eastern we have Le Flore vs Princeton (not the university obviously), and at 3pm eastern we have Cass Lake vs White Station. Finally at 5pm eastern, DeMatha squares off with Hopkins.
And as a bonus, Fox College Sports (FCS) will show an episode of "Future Phenoms", narrated by Pat Summerall, at the end of the four game marathon.
The Long Beach State vs St Paul Central game will repeat after midnight on Fox College Sports. Other ones may repeat later on as well. FCS's published schedule can be a bit iffy at times.
Also don't forget to TiVo or watch the high school game on ESPN2 on Thursday January 10, 2008, with Helen Cox of Louisiana squaring off with Norcross of Georgia. One of the top players in the nation will be showcased: Greg Monroe who has signed with the Georgetown Hoyas of JT3!

T-Mobile Invitational Preview (2007 edition)
The second annual T-Mobile Invitational High School Basketball tournament tips off tonight on Versus TV. Versus was formerly OLN (Outdoor Life Network). Some of it will also be shown on the high definition channel Versus-Golf which blends content from Versus and the Golf channel.
This is the official website for the T-Mobile tournament. Four men's teams and four women's teams square off. The games will be played in The Pit in New Mexico. Last year's inaugural T-Mobile invitational was played in Seattle, Washington.
There will be four games on today and tomorrow, all shown on Versus as one long block. The games will interchange between women and men. Tim McCormick and Tim Everett will be the announcers.
On the men's bracket the Knights square off (no, not Bob vs Pat Knight): Roswell (Georgia, not New Mexico) Centennial vs Lone Peak at 12:30pm mountain standard time, and at 330pm mountain standard time the storied St. Anthony's Friars square off with the La Cueva Bears. Please note that tip off times are approximate and depend on how long the previous games are going to be! Here are the official brackets of the tourney.

ESPN releases TV schedule of 2007-2008 high school basketball games
ESPN has release the schedule of their 2007-2008 men's high school basketball games. A total of 15 games will air on ESPN's air. Details at ESPN.com.
A number of touted prospects are featured as expected, so be sure to mark your calendars or check the tv listings frequently at NCAA Hoops Today. The list includes Lance Stephenson, Tyreke Evans, Delvon Roe, Eloy Vargas, Jrue Holiday, Kenny Boynton, Brandon Jennings, and lots more!

Tonight on ESPN2: Campbell Hall of CA visits Saint Edward of Ohio
The first men's high school basketball game of the season airs tonight (Thursday, December 6, 2007) on ESPN2: Campbell Hall of CA visits Saint Edward of Ohio. The game will be televised live at 9pm eastern (6pm pacific). There is a college game before that (Providence vs South Carolina at 7pm eastern (4pm pacific), so if that game goes longer, it may "eat up" some of the air time of the high school game.
The biggest stars in the game is J'Rue Holiday who is following Kevin Love to UCLA, and Delvon Roe, who broke Ol' Roy's heart when he signing with Izzo State.

Meanwhile Jody Demling of the Louisville Courier Journal previews this game, but also has a schedule of upcoming college hoops games on the ESPN family of networks(six more events!) This year ESPN "stole" Spalding HoopHall Classic games from CSTV, except they are putting them on ESPNU which is like showing them on Mars because a number of cable companies and ESPN are unable to find a way to make ESPNU available to anyone who wants to subscribe to it. Fall Signing period two hour recruiting show on CSTV today!
Seth Davis and his recruiting expert friends will be presenting a two hour college basketball recruiting special on CSTV tonight, Wednesday November 14, 2007. The show will debut at 6pm pacific on CSTV. It will repeat at 10pm pacific and 2am pacific, with more repeats later in the week. As always check with your local listings for the channel number and air times.
More TV scheduling at NHT, with the latest college basketball games, documentaries and preview shows are listed. This includes ESPN, ESPN2, FSN, Fox College Sports, CSTV, Versus, ESPN Classic, and CBS and ABC when they start broadcasting games in December. Not listed are ESPN Full Court and ESPNU.

November 14, 2007: CSTV will have a Signing Day special
Mark your calendars basketball fans, on Wednesday November 17, 2007, CSTV will have a special College Basketball Signing Day show. If you miss the original fear not, it will repeat a few more times. For specific airtimes and channel numbers please check with your local cable or satellite provider. CSTV is usually available not available on standard cable, but on digital cable or special cable packages, such as Comcast's Sports Tier.
CSTV's basketball recruiting team usually includes a combination of Seth Davis, Tom Konchalski, Vance Coleman, and Dave Telep.
Speaking of TV, the last two episodes of "Future Phenoms", narrated by legendary Pat Summerall featured the Morris twins going to Kansas, Drew Gordon going to UCLA, and Oklahoman Xavier Henry being one of the most coveted recruits of the 2009 class.
Also on TV, ESPN2 will be having a 90 minute edition of the Boost Elite 24 classic on Tuesday November 17, 2007. This will be after a live game, so expect some turbulance.
